4 Fit and Healthy Kids is a nutrition and fitness program designed to help middle school students _6th, 7th, & 8th grades) and their parents improve their eating and fitness choices.  Held at the Aurora Wellness Center 300 McCanna Pkwy Burlington.  Cost is $25.00  call to register 1-800-499-5736. 20 2010 series of workdays at Bong State Recreation Area - 9 am - 11 am, has been planned to help improve the park and the environment. Workdays are very flexible, volunteers may come for the whole time or for an hour. They may show up for all the workdays or just one. Ages may vary, but are best suited for ages ten and up. Some of the planned projects include helping with habitat work by cutting and hauling brush. You may be improving trails by cutting brush and clearing paths. You may be pruning park trees in picnic areas. Workdays are not cancelled due to bad weather. Come dressed to work outside in layers with boots, hats and gloves. If you have tools, you may bring them but we will try to have all necessary materials. Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by The Driven Program. There will be 4 separate hunts for ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-11. The Easter Bunny will be present as well as many more activities for the entire family. Richard Bong State Recreation Area and the Bong Naturalist Association announces the 5th Annual Spring into Fitness Challenge and fund raiser! Anyone can participate! Teams of 2-4 can register for $40 prior to March 15th or $45 after March 15th. Teams can also register at the kick-off event at 9:30am on March 27th. Following a short presentation at 10:00 , we will hike the 1.9 mile Green Trail - meet at the Visitor Center . You will need to purchase a daily or annual park vehicle sticker to attend any events at the park. Participants will earn points for engaging in healthy behaviors including being more physically active (such as hiking, biking or other activities of choice), engaging in healthy nutritional habits (including drinking more water or eating more fruits and vegetables), and participating in stress reduction activities (including yoga, dancing, or sunrise/sunset viewing). A registration packet, which includes tally sheets, event calendar and maps, will be given to each participant. The event will wrap up on Sunday, May 16th with a healthy potluck and award ceremony. Fit With Fiber - Learn To Knit event for Burlington 's youth. The event is sponsored by Scholastic, Warm Up America Foundation, Artistic Fibers and Raw Salon. St. Charles School and Cooper School are donating the space. All of the supplies, knitting needles and yarn have been donated. There are two sessions offered each day, 9 - 11 am and 1 - 3 pm . The event is open to children in 1st - 5th grades and is free. Advance registration is required as well as the submission of a permission slip signed and dated by a guardian. Instruction is being provided Artistic Fibers and volunteers. The participants are taught to knit and asked to knit a 7 x 9 " square that will become a part of a blanket that is thereafter donated to Warm Up America for distribution to the Red Cross, Veterans Hospitals, Shelters and Homeless support facilities. The hope is to solicit community service hours from high school students to put the squares together thereby including all of Burlington 's youth in this worthwhile endeavor. Registration opens March 8th at 10 am at Artistic Fibers and the class openings are on a first come basis.

Whitman School is open by appointment. Pioneer Cabin Immigrant 1850 Homestead season begins the first Saturday in May and is open Saturdays from 1-4 pm through the last Saturday of October.
